In this emotional film directed by Emanuelle Bercot, we are taken on a desperate journey that shows just how far one fan will go to be close to celebrity. While making an impromptu reality show appearance, elusive pop star Lauren (Emmanuelle Seigner) captures the heart of Lucie (Isild Le Besco), an impressionable and troubled teen. After writing Lauren a poignant note, Lucie leaves home and goes to Paris in order to be closer to her idol. Through her own determination, Lucie finally manages to meet with Lauren, who, struck by Lucie’s innocence, decides to take her under her wing. The needy star begins to be more and more attached to her young fan, and Lucie’s own obsession grows as she longs to be even more intimate with the volatile singer. When an exboyfriend shows up in Lauren’s old apartment, Lucie devises a plan to seduce him, in a misguided effort to get closer to Lauren. And ultimately, the question becomes, “how close can we become to someone else before we lose ourselves entirely?” – Rachel Popowcer (France, 2005, 115 min, dir: emanuelle bercot.
