From Britain comes this beautiful and well-developed story of discovering love later in life that rejects cliché and delivers honest and believable characters coping with the kind of situation that is rarely addressed in today’s youth-obsessed culture. Sad sack Jim, reaching the end of his long career as a teacher, wants to experience life before it is over. Unfortunately, he’s stuck looking after his elderly father and it begins to look as if he’s going to be going from one unsatisfying, soul-crushing profession to another. Just when all hope seems lost, Jim meets Ray, a taxi driver and ex-soccer star, who is serving his own life sentence of sorts, stuck caring for a family that neither appreciates him nor has any sympathy for his ongoing grief for his dead wife. The two men are opposites in almost every respect, but as they each begin to address their personal problems and come to terms with the homosexual feelings they have suppressed for decades they become enmeshed in a heartfelt and tender love for each other that neither would have ever guessed.
